The University of Bremen invites participants to two summer universities for women in computing / informatics as well as engineering:

7th International Summer University for Women in Engineering

Informatica Feminale 2015
18th International Summer University for Women in Computing / Informatics
August 17 – 28, 2015

The 7th Ingenieurinnen-Sommeruni 2015, the International Summer University for Women in Engineering, will be held from August 10 to 21, 2015 and the 18th Informatica Feminale 2015, the International Summer University for Women in Computing / Informatics, takes place from August 17 to 28, 2015.
Both summer universities are directed at women students of all disciplines, levels and different types of institutions of higher education as well as all women interested in computing, engineering and technology and women professionals from all over the world.

The program covers about 75 courses: introductory and basic content as well as advanced and specialized topics on an academic level. Various topics from computer science, electrical engineering, information technology, production, mechanical & process engineering and related interdisciplinary fields are offered. With a variety of classes such as materials, biotechnology, material and energy flow, logistics, electromobility, privacy and security, programming, agile software development, mobile web, interdisciplinary technology, project and quality management, as well professional writing and communication skills.

Women lecturers from science and practice will hold classes in small groups. Participants can take part in and earn credit points for classes, workshops and seminars, lasting one or several days. Courses will be taught in English and German. There are specific courses for student beginners as well as for advanced students and for practitioners who wish to get further education on a current academic level.

In addition, field trips to research institutes of both fields, computing and engineering, at Bremen University and to regional companies as well as networking events will be organized. The career fair JobForum with several companies and company presentations will take place on August 19, 2015. There will be the opportunity for companies to meet and network with dedicated participants and motivated new employees.

Students and unemployed are charged a one-time fee of 35 Euro for a participation of two weeks and 50 Euro for three weeks. Employed women pay a fee of 35 Euro a day. During the entire summer university, childcare is provided for free.

Registration is possible via the websites until July 24, 2015.

Call for Contributions 2015

Dear students and interested women,

The University of Bremen, Germany, invites women experts in computer science/ informatics to contribute to the 18th Informatica Feminale. The international summer university will take place from August 17 to August 28, 2015 in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Bremen University.

Women experts from science and practice may submit their contributions concerning recent or basic topics from the field of computer science until February 07, 2015. Proposals from informatics and its interdisciplinary subjects are welcome. We are also looking for lecturers with contributions concerning studying and career. A program committee will decide on the contributions. Informatica Feminale is part of the regular course program at University of Bremen. Teaching assignments can be allocated to lecturers. A program committee will decide on the contributions. Course languages are German and English.

There will be several possibilities for talks and short presentations during the summer university. Talks with a length of 30 to 60 minutes are welcome.

Furthermore we invite companies to sponsor the summer university. There will be various chances to meet graduates of computer science at the career fair ‘JobForum’ of Informatica Feminale and Ingenieurinnen-Sommeruni on August 19, 2015.

Every year, Informatica Feminale offers compact teaching in informatics/computer science for women students of all types of universities and colleges as well as for women professionals interested in further training. In this regard, entering higher education, developing a student career, transition into labor market and lifelong academic learning are equally applied. Inter/national lecturers and students meet at the summer university in Bremen to exchange and to use the place for experimentation, with the intention to develop and imply new impulses in informatics. The summer university is aiming at the professional networking of students and the advanced training for computer scientists on an academic level.
